How do I start a new trip?
Open the app and tap + New trip on the picker screen. The wizard asks a few short questions — origin, destination, dates, group size, and a couple of preference chips (food-first, slow pace, cherry blossom, etc.). Butter writes a first-pass itinerary in under a minute. You can edit, reorder, or rewrite anything from there.
Can I edit the AI-generated itinerary?
Everything is editable. Tap any activity to change the time, place, or notes; long-press to drag-reorder; swipe to remove. Butter saves your edits and uses them as context when it suggests later days.
How does multi-currency work?
When you log an expense, you pick the currency the receipt is in. Butter stores the original amount and the exchange rate at the moment you logged it, so the group's home-currency total stays accurate even if rates drift later. Supported today: KRW · JPY · USD · THB · EUR · GBP.
How does the settle-up algorithm decide who pays whom?
At the end of the trip, Butter looks at every expense and who owes whom on net, then proposes the minimum number of transfers that clears the ledger. Three people who owe each other small amounts usually settle with one or two transfers, not six. You can manually adjust before sending.
How do I invite my travel group?
On the Overview tab, tap Invite. Butter generates a short link you can drop in your group chat. Anyone who opens it on iOS can join the trip after a one-tap sign-in. Group size is currently capped at 8 travelers.
What data does Butter Agent collect?
Account info (name, email, profile photo URL from your sign-in provider), the trip content you enter, and basic device diagnostics. We do not sell personal information and we do not run third-party advertising SDKs. Full detail in the Privacy policy.
How do I delete my account and all my data?
From the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. Your trips, expenses, and profile are deleted within 30 days. You can also email contact@butteragent.io with the subject line Delete my account.
Is Butter Agent free?
Yes — Butter Agent is free, with no in-app purchases, during the beta. If we ever introduce optional paid features, we'll say so clearly and in advance; the planning, expense, and settlement features you rely on today will stay free.
